Types Of Bathroom Lighting Available
Each bathroom design is unique, which is why we stock a wonderful collection of both modern and traditional lighting styles, including the following:
Finding The Right Lighting
When designing a bathroom, the space is always split into four zones which will help you to determine which lighting type would best suit the room. These zones are as follows:
- Zone 0 – This zone relates to inside a bath or shower. Any light fitted in this area needs to be at least a rating of IP67, meaning it can be completely immersed and have a low voltage (max 12v).
- Zone 1 – Zone 1 is the area above a bath or shower, with a maximum height from the floor of 2.25m. A minimum IP rating of IP45 will be required for these zones.
- Zone 2 – 60cm around the perimeter of the bath, shower or basin, and up to a height of 2.25m from the floor are the specifications for this zone. A minimum IP rating of IP44 will be required for these zones.
- Outside Zones – Relating to anywhere that does not fall into one of the 3 zones above. There is no minimum IP rating for these areas; however, they have to be spots where it is not likely for water to be splashed.
